SUMMARY:A Love Letter to African American Children-An Anti-Bias & Anti-Racism Approach - Exclusionary Discipline
DESCRIPTION:This training will offer participants an opportunity to explore and understand exclusionary discipline and make connections to how such practices impact children in the long term. We will discuss working with all children\, particularly children of color\, and converse about strategies that will enhance relationships with both families and children.  African-American children will be the primary focus of study with applications and analyses for what is needed for all children to thrive\, experience wonders\, and possess a felt sense of belonging. Participants will be offered simplified theoretical research as well as practical engagement activities to discover the experiences of children\, care providers\, and systems as major contributors to children’s growth and development within an ABAR framework. Reflective introspection and action planning will offer hands-on opportunities for deep interpersonal learning and CHANGE. \nPresenters: Nini Humphrey\, M.Ed. & Crystal McClendon-Gourdine\, Ph.D. \nRegistration Link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-love-letter-to-black-children-an-anti-bias-anti-racism-approach-tickets-695029500947?aff=oddtdtcreator \n
