SUMMARY:Understanding your Rights as a Licensee from Title 22 Regulations to SB 234 The Keeping Kids Close to Home Act
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Carla Fernandes-Goes\, Child Care Advocate from the Community Care Licensing Division  \nTitle 22 of the California Code of Regulations contains the “ground rules” for all licensed community care facilities\, including child care centers and family child care homes. This training focuses on the due process and procedural protections available to you as a state-licensed including the right to appeal. \nThe “Keeping Kids Close to Home Act” (SB 234) is a cornerstone of current licensing rights training. It focuses on protecting the provider’s right to operate within a community. \n\nHousing & Zoning Rights: Training explains that local governments cannot require “Conditional Use Permits” for large family child care homes. They must treat these homes as residential use of property.\nBusiness Protections: Education on the right to operate without paying local business taxes or obtaining a local business license for child care.\nTenant Protections: For those renting\, training covers the right to operate a licensed home without fear of eviction or discrimination by landlords or HOAs.\n\nRegister here:https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/_LUiaQvRToGd2eJ9cK4tsg

SUMMARY:LPA Ready: Your Playbook for Navigating Annual Inspections & the CARE Tool
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Carla Fernandes-Goes\, Child Care Advocate from the Community Care Licensing Division  \nAre you ready for your annual inspection? This essential workshop is designed to empower Family Child Care Home (FCCH) providers with the knowledge and tools to navigate the Title 22 inspection process with confidence. \nThe CARE (Compliance and Regulatory Enforcement) Tool is a checklist used by LPAs during inspections. It is designed to ensure that inspections are consistent and thorough across the state. The tool focuses on key health and safety regulations. While the CARE tool doesn’t cover every single regulation\, it highlights the most critical ones. \nWe will demystify the requirements and provide practical strategies to help you “ace” your next visit from Community Care Licensing. You will leave this workshop with a clear action plan\, valuable resources\, and the peace of mind that comes from being thoroughly prepared for a successful annual inspection. \nRegister Here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/cuwt4DQMQaq5tNj8vSvFPg

SUMMARY:Child Care Solutions for Climate Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Kitty Lenhart\, MEd RD\, Child Health and Nutrition Grant Projects Coordinator \nIN-PERSON:  Saturday\, June 13th at 9:30 AM-11:00 AM \nCocoKids Learning Institute: 1035 Detroit Avenue\, Suite 100\, Concord\, CA 94518 \nEvery year\, our childcare providers tell us the same story: “The weather feels different now—and the kids feel it too.” Some days it’s the intense heat that settles into play yards and classrooms. Other days it’s the smoky air drifting in from distant wildfires\, making it hard to know whether children can safely go outside. And sometimes it’s simply the uncertainty—Is today a day when outdoor play is safe? \nAcross our region\, families and childcare programs are feeling the daily effects of a changing climate. These shifts can be subtle or sudden\, but they all add up to real challenges for the adults caring for young children. Heat waves arrive earlier and last longer. Air quality fluctuates more often. Outdoor environments—so important for learning and well‑being—are becoming harder to use consistently.-quality awareness and strategies for reducing stress during climate-related disruptions. \nOur workshop will be focused on helping providers understand how climate change is affecting early learning and child health. These sessions will cover topics such as heat‑safety practices\, air‑quality awareness\, and strategies for reducing stress during climate‑related disruptions. \nRegister here: Child Care Solutions for Climate Resilience – Fill out form
