Full Time Early Learning Specialist - Contra Costa County
Location: Martinez, CA. Currently remote, later moving to hybrid in-office model.
Reports to: Program Supervisor, Contra Costa County
Starting Salary: $46,000 - $48,000 DOE with mileage and parking reimbursement
Start Date: May 3, 2021

you want to work with a small nonprofit doing big work in the area of early childhood education?
Tandem, Partners in Early Learning® is looking for a new full-time Early Learning Specialist to join our Contra Costa County team.

Over the last decade, Tandem, Partners in Early Learning has provided high-quality, multilingual,
multicultural children’s books and training for educators, families, and community members in early
learning topics. Tandem supports children and families in San Francisco, Alameda, and Contra Costa
counties.

Who You Are
● Passionate about working with young children and their families to promote high quality early
learning experiences that lift up the strengths and resources of diverse communities. Previous
experience in early learning, early education, or childcare is a plus.
● Excited to work in a non-traditional environment where assignments range from reading with
groups of young children to collaborating with community partners on special projects and
events
● Interested and able to present information to families and educators in person and virtually.
● Experienced with managing a busy calendar and scheduling appointments
● Comfort with using MS-Office Suite and G-Suite tools.
● Comfort with learning new technologies and applications (e.g. Asana, Airtable, Salesforce,
Expensify, Buddy Punch, Zoom)
● Excited to learn and grow with our small organization

What You’ll Do

Specific duties include, but are not restricted to:
● Support StoryCycles® our home literacy program, by offering read aloud demonstrations in
classrooms, technical assistance to educators, and workshops for families
● Source, evaluate, and order high-quality, multilingual, diverse books for distribution to children
and families through our partner organizations
● Collaborate with other team members to create curriculum and deliver workshops for families,
educators, and family support professionals
● Develop and manage relationships with community partners to provide community-focused
program for families whose children are not enrolled in formal preschool
This role requires a valid California Driver’s License, satisfactory driving record, and access to an
insured vehicle as well as up-to-date immunizations (specifically proof of immunity to Measles and
Pertussis as well as annual flu vaccinations and TB tests every 4 years).
During COVID-19, the majority of Tandem programming is online. Candidates will need to develop
comfort and confidence at providing programming (e.g., read aloud demonstrations, workshops, etc.)
in online/ virtual formats. Tandem will provide a computer, access to Zoom Video Conferencing, and
training/coaching in using interactive tools and strategies for presenting information online.

Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to sit for long periods; use a computer to create and update
documents frequently; drive a car and navigate roads to provide on-site programming; and lift and
carry up to 35 pounds during book sorts and book deliveries.
During COVID-19, Tandem’s staff are working off site. Candidates will need to have the ability to work remotely until such time our offices are open for business.

As a Tandem employee, your benefits will include the following:

Additionally, Tandem is closed from December 25th and January 1st and the week including July 4th.
