(Richmond, Concord, Antioch, CA) – The Contra Costa Child Care Council with an impact of over 60,000 children, families, preschool teachers and child care providers annually is now CocoKids!  Celebrating more than 40 years of community service throughout Contra Costa and with impact and recognition statewide and nationally, the nonprofit organization has a new name and logo to go with its steadfast mission “to champion and advance quality child care and early education”.

“We are the trusted nonprofit with expertise and excellent program services parents, early educators and communities rely on,” says John F. Jones, executive director. “For years, CocoKids has been our nickname and web address, CocoKids.org. As we went through our renaming process, we realized the name CocoKids was the best choice.”

The organization has added the tagline “Childhood Champions” to its new logo. It represents our belief that everyone needs someone on their side. Everyone should have a Champion. We want to be that Champion for children during one of the most rewarding and sometimes difficult time in their lives.

“We believe a safe, healthy, and educated childhood should be a right for all children and worth standing up for as a Champion,” says Jones.

The logo represents the diversity of our community, the importance of family and the support our organization commits to the community. The child is in the center, just as our services are focused on providing every child the greatest opportunity to reach their full potential.

CocoKids will continue to provide free child care referrals and resources to families. Parents can request an appointment, drop by the office, or go online for assistance to find a child care provider. Financial assistance to help pay for child care is available to eligible low income or at-risk families. Training and support are available to child care professionals. CocoKids also provides a child, health and nutrition program and specialized support for children with special needs in child care.
