There is a Mandated Reporter requirement for anyone applying for a license to care for children in their home. There is a self-paced class offered in English and Spanish. First time applicants must take the four-hour general training and then the three-hour training specific to be a child care provider. An exam must be taken online at the completion of the training. The specific training section for child care providers must be renewed every two years.
Contra Costa County applicants may take the live Mandated Reporter training through Zoom with their computer cameras on. CocoKids offers this class as a live training once a month. This training needs to be renewed every two years.

All Mandated Reporter classes supply a certificate of completion to the attendees at the end of the class. This certificate will need to be kept on file for Licensing.
