Governor Proposes Devastating Child Care Cuts
Child Care Council Executive Director, Kate Ertz-Berger, calls the plans "short-sighted" as Brown proposes $516 million cuts to child care funding that will create chaos for over 50,000 families and more than 60,000 children. PROVIDER ALERT: New Guidelines on Crib Standards
Beginning December 28, 2012, any crib provided by child care centers and family child care homes must meet new and improved federal safety standards. Parents should also be aware of these safety standards. For details, click here.
Road to Success WINNER is a West County Provider
Zania Shaw Posey jumped for joy when she learned that she was the winner of a $100 gift certificate. Newly licensed family child care providers who participated in the Council's Road to Success program, funded by a local consortium of cities and the county through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) dollars, entered a drawing for completing "Client Satisfaction" surveys. Long Foundation and First 5 Contra Costa in funding the Preschool Makes a Difference scholarship program that gives low-income children in Contra Costa the opportunity to attend a quality preschool.
